Planter Wall
Overview
A modular vertical planter system that transforms greenery into an architectural surface. Designed as a continuous parametric module, the system integrates nature with digital fabrication to create living walls defined by rhythm, repetition, and sculptural quality.
Rather than treating plants as decorative additions, the design embeds vegetation into a structured spatial framework, turning growth into an active design element.
Description
Design & Geometry
The planter modules are generated through algorithmically controlled rotational geometry, forming a twisting volumetric unit that interlocks vertically and horizontally. This creates a dynamic surface pattern that shifts between concave and convex profiles, producing depth, shadow variation, and visual movement.
The repeating geometry allows scalable configurations — from freestanding columns to full-height green partitions — enabling flexible spatial arrangements.
The visible layered texture of large-format 3D printing reinforces the digital fabrication language while enhancing the tactile quality of the surface.
Fabrication
Manufactured using robotic large-scale 3D printing, each planter module is structurally integrated and material-efficient. The additive process allows precision in curvature, modular stacking capability, and customization in height, density, and finish.
The system can be configured as:
- Freestanding vertical towers
- Modular green partitions
- Interior biophilic installations
- Feature walls for commercial environments
Applications
- Corporate lobbies and reception areas
- Hospitality interiors
- Retail environments
- Exhibition installations
- Public and semi-public green spaces
